The Hallanshankers Ceilidh Band

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, The Hallanshankers are a six-piece ceilidh band - accordion, mandolin, whistles, guitars, banjo, bass and drums - playing mostly for celebrations, dinner dances and conferences.

Several of the band are also vocalists.

The backline of the band were originally pop/rock musicians who learned their trade in the sixties and seventies in a variety of pop/punk groups.

About 25 years ago, some of them decided to explore their musical heritage and, over a few years, became well versed in Irish and Scottish traditional dance music.

The band expanded and went through a number of permutations, eventually adding in the solid drums and bass foundation to fill out the sound needed for larger venues.

They have been performing in their present line-up for over 15 years and perform regularly at weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.

As well as dance music, the band perform traditional, folk, country and pop songs where required and as a break from the dances.
